About Doc Martin

The trials and tribulations of Dr. Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes), a socially challenged doctor who moves from London to the picturesque village of Port Wenn in Cornwall. Nine series aired between 2004 and 2019, with a television film airing on Christmas Day in 2006. The ninth and most recent series aired on ITV from September 2019 and streamed in the United States and Canada on Acorn TV. Fans are curious to know if there will be another season of the drama. Currently, the future of Doc Martin remains unknown. A 10th season has not been ruled out by Martin Clunes, who plays the role of Doctor Martin Ellingham in the series. Doc Martin Season 10 release date is not announced but likely to be in September. Given that Doc Martin has always been an ITV show, however, we don't see any reason why it wouldn't continue to be an ITV series – so in the UK, you'd expect to see it on ITV. In the US, Acorn TV has always been the exclusive premiere location for the series. While we certainly don't know the details of their contracts with ITV, we've seen nothing to suggest that Acorn TV wouldn't be the premiere outlet for Season 10 of Doc Martin. In an interview at the Cornwall Film Festival, the director, Nigel Cole has confirmed without a doubt, that there will be a tenth series. He said: “There will be a series ten. We’re working on it. It’s official, we are doing it.” Recently most of the cast got back together for a special project to thank the NHS for all they are doing for us during the COVID-19 pandemic. Actors Martin Clunes, Caroline Catz, Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, and John Marquez – all reprised their famous roles for a seven-minute special which has been shared on Youtube. In the season finale, which aired in 2019, Doc Martin faced a final assessment by the General Medical Council. Tom Conti drove to the village to audit Martin to see if his skills in surgery were adequate. As a result, Doc Martin resigned before he could be struck off as he failed. He also found out he was about to have another child! With the final episode leaving on a cliff hanger, people were shocked to hear there was a possibility that it could be the last episode. The series by ITV was set originally for nine series, but Martin Clunes said in the past “That doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be any more”.
