About Kings of Pain
In 1983 entomologist Dr. Justin O. Schmidt began ranking stinging insects on a scale from 1-4, putting himself in harm's way for science creating the Schmidt sting pain index and authoring the book The Sting of The Wild. Now Thorn and Alleva are taking Schmidt's pain index even further adding venomous bites and more deadly creatures and ranking them on a 30-point scale with new categories including intensity, duration and damage. Their goal is to create history's ultimate and fully comprehensive guide to measuring pain. In addition, they will be consulting with Schmidt as they build this new pain index that is completely new to science to be used as an educational tool showcasing which creatures humans should avoid and what to do in the event they do get bitten or stung.

The gold mining season is about to begin... and this year means war. With the price of gold holding near record highs, each miner is battling to find and mine the best ground. But with most of the good ground tied up, they are forced to dig deeper and go further into the wilderness in search of the motherlode. This year mining prodigy Parker Schnabel finds himself with his back against the wall. After years of growing gold totals, the 26-year-old is running out of ground - forcing him to gamble on a narrow paystreak that could be the richest he's mined. But there's a big problem... it's more than 50 feet below the surface. To get down to paydirt he'll have to spend millions. Will Parker finally stumble? Or will he notch another record breaking gold total? As he taps out his Klondike claims, he also travels deep into the Alaskan wilderness in search of his next big claim. Returning this season is King of the Klondike himself, Tony Beets. Tony has spent four decades building a family gold mining empire. This year, he's putting it all on the line to cash in on his life's work with the goal of mining 9,000 ounces - worth upwards of $16 million at today's prices. For most of Tony's career, he's been buying up gold-rich ground in the Yukon. This season, Tony has big plans to re-open his Indian River operation and has spent more than $5 million in new gear to mine it and the Paradise Hill claims 24/7. There is just one big problem. There is no water license on the Indian river. Will all the pieces come together in time before the new season? And will Tony and his family be able keep up with the grueling work to mine that much gold? Also returning this season is Rick Ness, who starts the year on a hot paystreak and ahead of schedule. Rick is coming in swinging by doubling down and going for 2,000 ounces of gold, the most he's ever mined. But Rick starts the season off as a captain without a crew. Two of his key teammates don't return, leaving him to supersize his operation's horsepower to make up for the lack of manpower. Rick breaks out a massive half million-dollar dozer - one of the biggest you can buy - as well a massive new excavator. Will the comeback kid finally end up on top? Meanwhile, special forces veteran Fred Lewis is also back. After striking out in Oregon last season, Fred is driving into the Yukon with the dream to make it as a gold miner and provide a windfall for his all-veteran crew. He cannot fail again. Upon arriving in the Yukon, Fred reaches out to the only person he knows - Parker Schnabel. Will Fred be able to muscle in on some ground in the Klondike? This season of GOLD RUSH is unlike any other as each of the miners and their crews battle the odds and the elements in the hope of finding millions in gold. There's a ground war in the inhospitable wilderness of the Klondike. But one thing is certain, once gold fever strikes, these crews will never give up. While filming "Expedition Bermuda Triangle," produced by Lone Wolf Media for The HISTORY Channel, two major discoveries were made in the waters off the coast of Florida in the infamous area known as the Bermuda Triangle. Marine biologist and lead diver Mike Barnette and his team discovered a plane wreck that was positively identified as a WWII TBM Avenger plane by former Navy pilot and WWll craft expert Roy Stafford. This plane looks to be an identical match to the missing squadron of five planes referred to as the legendary 'Flight 19' (prominently featured in Spielberg's 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind') which took off from Ft. Lauderdale back on December 5, 1945 with 14 men on board and was never seen or heard from again. After the discovery, Mike presented his findings at the Washington Naval Yard, as chronicled in the episode, and while additional investigation is still needed to determine if there are any identifiable markings to 100% match the wreckage to one of the planes from 'Flight 19,' the possibility remains open. In addition, Mike and his team also located the shipwreck remains of what they believe to be The Sandra, a famous cargo ship that vanished without a trace on April 5, 1950 in the Bermuda Triangle 71 years ago with a 12-men crew on board. The identification was based on lab tests of cargo samples taken from the wreck site as well as a combination of Lloyd's of London records, various documentation of the ship records of transfer and ownership, and ultimately locating the ship's original design and drawings at the Mystic Seaport Museum. The Sandra is one of the featured disappearances in Charles Berlitz seminal best-selling 1974 book The Bermuda Triangle and is among the ships frequently mentioned when the 'mystery' of the Bermuda Triangle' is invoked. "History's Greatest Mysteries: Expedition Bermuda Triangle" chronicles a team of renowned explorers as they make startling new discoveries in the depths of the Bermuda Triangle. Along the way, the team will uncover long lost ships, reveal new secrets hidden in archives, and uncover a series of unsettling clues to what makes these waters so dangerous. Have they finally solved the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle? "Expedition Bermuda Triangle" premieres on The HISTORY Channel as part of "History's Greatest Mysteries," hosted and narrated by Laurence Fishburne.
