Former NXIVM members Sarah Edmondson, Mark Vicente, Bonnie Piesse, Anthony "Nippy" Ames, Barbara Bouchey, Susan Dones and Toni Natalie appear prominently in the series, alongside journalists Frank Parlato, who helped start initial reporting on the criminal activity of NXIVM, and New York Times reporter Barry Meier. Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson star as former FBI Dir. James Comey and President Donald J. Trump in this limited series of the story of two powerful men, whose strikingly different ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course. The prestige shows about the current administration are already on the way. In The Comey Rule, Jeff Daniels takes on former FBI director James Comey to dramatize the events followed by the 2016 election that Comey wrote about in his memoir, A Higher Loyalty. In the two-part, four-hour miniseries, Daniels is joined by Brendan Gleeson, Holly Hunter, William Sadler, and many others.
The series chronicles the individual journeys of a man and woman who arrive on a mysterious island at different times. The production will be split into three parts with three interconnected stories. The first, 'Summer', directed by Marc Munden, will follow Sam (played by Jude Law), a man drawn to a mysterious island off the English coast where he encounters a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost. The second part of the production, 'Autumn', will be told during a one-off live event in London after the summer section of the show has been broadcast. Described by the producers of the show as a "major immersive theatre event", the live segment of the show will air in one continuous take and is intended to allow followers of The Third Day to "inhabit the story as it happens". It will feature Jude Law and other members of the series cast. The third part of the series, 'Winter', directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, follows Helen (played by Naomie Harris), a strong-willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers, but whose arrival precipitates a fractious battle to decide its fate.
