A co-production with the BBC, this 12-part adaptation of the hugely acclaimed best-selling novel by Sally Rooney comes from Lenny Abrahamson (Room, Frank). Abrahamson directs the first six half-hour episodes, and Hettie Macdonald handles the rest.

Daly ends up working with Rick Moreweather, a washed-up producer of low-quality films who becomes Miles' partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood.

DES is a true-crime drama focusing on one of the most infamous criminal cases in UK history - DENNIS NILSEN. Known as the 'kindly killer', Nilsen (David Tennant, Good Omens, Broadchurch) was a local civil servant who spent five years murdering boys and young men he met on the streets of London's Soho from 1978 to 1983. He would meet and befriend these men before offering them food or lodgings for the evening back at his North London flat. His victims were often homeless or living off grid, having slipped through the cracks of 1980s British society and were therefore welcoming of this stranger's apparent generosity. When he was finally caught on 9 February 1983, Nilsen had murdered a total of fifteen men over a period of five years, making him Britain's most prolific serial killer of the time.

In the two-part, four-hour miniseries, Daniels is joined by Brendan Gleeson, Holly Hunter, William Sadler, and many others.

Each episode offers a glimpse of British life, from dusk till dawn, for many of its inhabitants (the everyday and the very famous). Locals, tourists, even those smuggling themselves into the country are included. A typical episode consists of sketches ranging from one to three minutes with one sketch's storyline acting as the spine of the episode. Each show features an original song penned by Ullman and composer Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer: The Opera).
