It showcases winners, finalists, fan favorites, and viral sensations from previous seasons of the mothership series to return to the stage to compete for the All-Star title.

Discovery Channel takes the ubiquitous survival show theme to the next level by stripping it to its bare essentials. In "Naked and Afraid," complete strangers -- usually a man and a woman -- meet in a very unique way: They're stranded in a dangerous, desolate location, without food or water, and they're completely naked. Each episode follows the adventurers as they attempt to survive on their own with nothing but a personal item and the knowledge that the only prize is their pride and sense of accomplishment. Because there is no other choice, competitors quickly get to know one another -- and their surroundings -- and hope that their instincts, survival skills and intestinal fortitude serve them well.

American Idol was based on the British show Pop Idol created by Simon Fuller, which was in turn inspired by the New Zealand television singing competition Popstars. Television producer Nigel Lythgoe saw a version in Australia and helped bring it over to Britain.

Host Ryan Seacrest returns for the 18th edition of the singing competition. Country music star Luke Bryan, music icon Lionel Richie and singer-songwriter Katy Perry return as judges, with famed multimedia personality Bobby Bones acting as the show's in-house mentor. The fun begins with the audition rounds, in which hopefuls from across the country try to wow the judges, who select the most impressive talent from each city. As the competition advances, it's up to the viewers at home to vote for their favorite vocalists in hopes of helping them make it to the next round. In the end, one singer wins the grand prize and is crowned the next "American Idol."

Contestants must compete against each other for a chance to win $500,000 in a house wired with cameras and microphones, capturing their every move for a TV and Internet audience.

Hosted by Mia Kang, ten contestants compete for $100,000. The competition took inspiration from the World War II government program, Station S—in which civilians were assessed and trained to be spies. Contestants living together in close quarters must figure out which one of them is the spy.

Hosted by The Good Place‘s Jameela Jamil, The Misery Index features teams competing against each other by attempting to rate hilarious and miserable real-life events on the “misery index,” a therapist-created ranking system.

Illusionists Penn & Teller sit in the audience and watch as aspiring magicians try to impress them with a trick that the famous illusionists are unable to duplicate. If a magician successfully hoodwinks the legendary duo with a trick, be it a sleight-of-hand routine or a grand illusion, that person wins a trip to Las Vegas to perform as an opening act in Penn & Teller's show at the Rio Hotel & Casino.

Contestants compete for prizes in a series of games based on The Ellen Show, for a chance to win $100,000.
