Hosted by Omar Chaparro and head judge Anna Ruiz, home bakers in Mexico with a terrible track record take a shot at recreating edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize. It's part competition, part hot mess. The "Nailed It!" culinary franchise heads south of the border with this entry that sees home bakers in Mexico try to re-create edible masterpieces. As with the other "Nailed It!" shows, the contestants don't have a strong track record in the kitchen so it'll take all of their baking skills -- and, hopefully, more -- in order to get a chance to win the competition and the $10.000 prize that is awarded to each episode's victor. Actor Omar Chaparro hosts the Spanish-language series, which features renowned baker Anna Ruiz as its head judge.
Four returning bakers are challenged to create holiday gingerbread houses with a cake twist. The first season of the series featured several prizes for the winner of the competition, including $10,000, a full kitchen remodel for their parent's home, an article/recipe in Food Network Magazine, and their winning cake sold as a re-creation by Charm City Cakes, along with the 'Kids Baking Champion' title. That season had a pool of eight contestants. Subsequent seasons feature only the title and a prize of $25,000 for the winner, with the FNM article/recipe restored in season four, with the contestant pool rising to ten in season two, and twelve in subsequent seasons with season five and seven being an exception with nine people.
Nailed It! was inspired by the craze of people trying and failing to make elaborate cakes they found on the Internet. Three amateur bakers with demonstrated poor baking skills attempt to re-create edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize and the Nailed It! trophy. Competitors take part in two challenges over the course of the 35-minute episodes. The first challenge is called "Baker's Choice", where the contestants pick one of three existing confectionery treats and try to recreate it. The winner of this challenge gets a special prize and is allowed to wear a golden chef's hat. In the second challenge, "Nail It or Fail It", contestants have two hours to recreate a complicated cake from scratch. They each receive a "Panic Button" which allows them to get three minutes of assistance from one of the judges. The worst-performing baker from the first challenge gets a second button to distract the other bakers – the specific function varies depending on the episode, but normally involves Nicole annoying the bakers. The three judges decide on the winning cake based upon presentation and taste. The winner receives a trophy and the $10,000 prize.
