The gripping and prescient espionage drama Deep State is back – with some exciting new cast joining returning favorites in a fresh and riveting storyline. Three U.S. Special Forces are killed in an ambush in Mali. The U.S. are supposedly there to support the Malians in their fight against terrorism. However, all is not as it seems. As the story progresses, we realize that their activity is underpinned by the deep state and forms part of a cover for the new gold rush – the goal to beat China in the race for African natural resources – oil, gas, ore and minerals. It is the first dirty war for clean energy.
Returning from season one are Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins), Karima McAdams (Fearless, Vikings), Alistair Petrie (Sex Education, Damages) and Anastasia Griffith (Damages, Once Upon a Time). New cast members to season two are Walton Goggins (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Tomb Raider), Lily Banda (The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind), Victoria Hamilton (The Crown, Doctor Foster), Zainab Jah (Elementary, Homeland) and Alexander Siddig (The Spy, Gotham).

Inspired by true events; a woman escaping a cult, a refugee fleeing with his family, a father trapped in a dead-end job, and a bureaucrat on the verge of a national scandal find their lives intertwined in an immigration detention centre.

With unemployment rates rising, tensions in town are running high, leaving some to retreat further from town.
