40 bottles a day, 420 diapers a week, and feedings every three hours became the new normal for Danielle and Adam Busby when they welcomed home the only all-female set of quintuplets in the country. The family of three became a family of eight overnight, and we follow that incredible journey on OutDaughtered.
Viewers pick up with the Busby family and America’s first all-female quintuplets months after the family, and the country went into quarantine. Now, the family is emerging with five-year-old Ava, Olivia, Parker, Hazel and Riley and their nine-year-old big sister Blayke to a new normal with plenty of new experiences in store, including a crash course in riding bikes, taking an RV trip to the wilderness and the quints starting kindergarten. There will also be celebrations galore, whether it’s a homemade, backyard haunted maze for Halloween or a socially distant visit with Santa. The Busbys always find ways to make things special for their girls, no matter the circumstances; however, an unknown and painful health issue that’s been haunting Super Mom Danielle for years has become unbearable, and her search for answers could lead her down a scary path. The Johnstons -- all seven -- of Forsyth, Ga., are the subjects of this reality-documentary series. The brood, TLC says, are "the world's largest known family of achondroplasia dwarfs." Achondroplasia is a genetic disorder of bone growth, but the series demonstrates that size only matters in the amount of love the Johnstons provide. Trent, a grounds supervisor at a local college, and housewife Amber have two biological children -- Jonah and Elizabeth -- while Anna, Alex and Emma were adopted from Russia, Korea and China, respectively. Episodes deal with everything from high-drama soccer tryouts to a disastrous attempt at a "birds and bees" discussion, all framed by the family tackling a massive renovation of their 6,000-square-foot, circa 1891 home.
This season, As Trent adjusts to the complexities of his new job as a car salesman and Amber juggles teaching while returning to college, the Johnstons decide to welcome a new member into their household! Joose, a 17-year-old foreign exchange student from Finland who is also a little person, moves in with the Johnstons to learn to speak English fluently. Along the way, Joose gets a head-spinning introduction to American culture while sharing Finnish traditions with the Johnstons. Meanwhile, newly independent adult kids Jonah, Anna and Liz discover the highs and lows of adulting while teens Alex and Emma navigate the final years of high school.
