After splitting with her long-term girlfriend, Leila is forced to move in with stranger and has-been novelist Gabe. Their worlds collide in deeply awkward and revealing ways as he becomes her unlikely wingman, helping her to navigate her new life dating men as well as women.

The series follows Sam, a true Kansan on the surface, but, beneath it all, struggling to fit the hometown mold. Grappling with loss and acceptance, singing is Sam's saving grace and leads her on a journey to discover herself and a community of outsiders who don't fit in but don't give up, showing that finding your people, and finding your voice, is possible. When Nicholas' trip is extended due to his father's untimely death, the siblings are left to cope with not only a devastating loss, but also the realization that Nicholas is the one who will have to rise to the occasion and hold it all together. Navigating autism, budding sexuality, consent, parenthood, adolescence, family and grief, the heartfelt comedy follows this imperfect family as they discover the importance of finding happiness in the middle of really difficult moments, one awkward conversation at a time.

The show follows the development of George and Mae's romance in contemporary London. Mae, a Canadian comedian (a version of Mae Martin's own persona) meets George, a repressed middle-class English woman, at the comedy club where she performs. The pair begin dating, and George learns that Mae is a former drug addict. George encourages Mae to attend a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, where she meets fellow recovering addicts like Maggie, a quirky middle-aged woman who takes Mae under her wing. As the series progresses, George struggles to tell friends and family about her relationship with Mae, to Mae's frustration.

Bette Porter, Shane McCutcheon and Alice Pieszecki intermingle with a younger generation of Los Angelenos experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success.

SORT OF follows the journey of “Sabi Mehboob” (Baig), a gender fluid millennial who straddles various identities from sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore/bar, to the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family. Sabi feels like they’re in transition in every aspect of their life, from gender to love to sexuality to family to career. A coming-of-age story, SORT OF exposes the labels we once poured ourselves into as no longer applicable...to anyone.
