About Polar Bear Town
Churchill, Manitoba, Canada is a town with a population of about 800 people. During tourist season, though, that number swells to 10,000, with many of those visitors hoping to encounter a polar bear. The chances of that happening are pretty high considering that every fall 1,000 of the animals make their way through the frontier town as they migrate to Hudson Bay in search of seals. Kelsey Eliasson and Dennis Compayre are guides who help the tourists get close to the bears while keeping both the animals and people safe. Brian Ladoon runs a roadside attraction in Churchill, an Eskimo dog kennel that attracts curious bears and cash-toting travelers.
