The Big Bake is a larger-than-life holiday baking competition series with themed Halloween, holiday and spring episodes. In each episode, three professional baking teams have five hours to design, bake and decorate a grand-scale cake creation based on a particular theme. These bakers need to think big and bold, blowing up their designs to gigantic proportions and thinking outside the (bakery) box. Each week the talented batch of bakers will face with a range of creative and exciting chocolate-based competitions that will test their sweet imaginations and put their baking skills to the test. These challenges include everything from creating an out-of-this-world chocolate creation with a galactic mirror finish and baking an over-the-top spectacle cake, to re-imagining a classic campfire treat and creating a chocolate confection with a spicy kick. Some of the bakers may melt under the pressure and only one will taste sweet victory by claiming the title of Great Chocolate Showdown champion and the $50,000 grand prize.
Each season of the show features 10 amateur baking contestants selected from across Canada to participate in a competition of themed baking challenges. Adapted from The Great British Bake Off, each episode features three rounds: the Signature Bake, the Technical Challenge, and the Showstopper. After the two judges taste and critique the entries, they determine which contestant is crowned each week's "Star Baker" and which contestant will be sent home.
Flour clouds the air as a festive-yet-furious battle between bakers ensues to determine the best cookie baker in the country. Five bakers' holiday treats are judged in three rounds of competition to determine which delectable treat will be the one that allows the baker to take home the prize for best treat. Each round of the competition focuses on a different theme, examples could be Christmas past and future, 3D art and ornaments. Judged on taste and creativity only one baker can take home the $10,000 prize.
Celebrated chefs mentor amateur cooks in an attempt to transform them from rookies to kitchen experts. Twelve to 16 contestants (referred to as "recruits") with very poor cooking skills are put through a culinary boot camp to earn a cash prize of $25,000 and a Food Network cooking set.
The recruits are trained on the various basic cooking techniques, including baking, knife skills, temperature, seasoning and preparation. The final challenge is to cook a restaurant-quality, three-course meal for three food critics.
A reality competition show in which chefs compete against one another in culinary challenges and are a judged by a panel of food and wine experts, with one or more contestants eliminated each episode.
